Meet Your Team
At Eaker Law Firm, you get more than one attorney’s perspective. David Eaker and Leslie Alvarez, together with paralegal Heather Mixon, work every case as a team — at different rates, so you are never billed at attorney rates for paralegal work.
What our past clients had to say:
Meet David Eaker
David Eaker has practiced family law in North Texas since 1999, representing clients across Rockwall, Collin and the surrounding counties in everything from complex contested divorces, child custody matters, appeals, and post-decree modifications and enforcements. His appellate work includes published opinions on issues such as common law marriage and paternity, among others. What sets David apart isn’t only the experience—it’s that he’s been on the other side of these cases himself. As a divorced father who raised his boys as a single dad before remarrying, he understands what these matters feel like personally, not just legally. He’s also a credentialed family law mediator by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. Decades as trial counsel gives him a practitioner’s eye in mediation—he knows where cases can settle and how to get there without unnecessary cost or conflict. Attorneys across the region regularly bring him their clients’ disputes to mediate. A graduate of SMU School of Law and Vanderbilt, David is licensed in all Texas courts and works from offices in Rockwall and Allen, each with dedicated mediation space. His approach is simple: listen first, give you an honest read on where you stand, and protect your finances, your family, and your future at every step—at the negotiating table or in the courtroom.
Meet Leslie Alvarez
Leslie Alvarez is an Associate Attorney at Eaker Law Firm, PC, practicing family law in the North Texas area. Her practice covers divorce, child custody (SAPCR), and enforcements, representing clients through some of the most difficult transitions in their lives while working closely with clients, opposing counsel, and the courts.
Leslie was born and raised in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, where she learned the value of hard work, community, and showing up for people—values that still guide how she practices law today. She earned her Juris Doctor from the William H. Bowen School of Law in Little Rock, Arkansas, and holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Oklahoma City University. During law school, she was an active member of the Bowen Trial Team and helped prepare the team for the TYLA National Trial Competition in 2023. In 2025, she attended the Collin County Bar Association Trial Academy to continue sharpening her courtroom skills.
Before joining Eaker Law Firm, PC, Leslie gained early legal experience representing immigrant children in Dallas, which reinforced her commitment to clear, compassionate advocacy for every client she works with.
Outside the courtroom, Leslie brings the same discipline and drive that defined her years as a college swimmer. These days, she channels that competitive spirit into running—she’s a member of the Dallas Running Club and regularly races 10Ks and occasionally half marathons. When she’s not training or in court, you can find her with a good book or looking for her next competition. She is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
At her core, Leslie is motivated by people. Whether it’s helping a client through a divorce or a child navigating custody matters, the most rewarding part of her work is helping people find steady ground during life’s hardest moments.
Meet Heather Mixon
Heather Mixon is the paralegal at Eaker Law Firm, PC, and for most clients she is the first person they speak with. She works on every case alongside David and Leslie — gathering what a case needs, keeping clients current on where things stand, and making sure nothing sits waiting on a call nobody returned.
Heather brings more than twenty years of family law experience, built working alongside some of the best family law attorneys in Texas. That depth matters in a practical way: work that would otherwise be billed at an attorney’s rate is handled by someone who has seen it hundreds of times, under attorney supervision, which keeps a client’s costs where they belong.
Heather grew up in Mesquite, Texas, graduated from Mesquite High School, and has extended family throughout the area. Today she is raising her own children in Rockwall, and the family spends its lake days on Lake Ray Hubbard. She knows this community the way someone does who lives in it rather than commutes through it — when a client describes their school district, their neighborhood, or what their week looks like, she already has the picture.
